Purpose  

The Habitat-Friendly Winter Wheat program is committed to maintaining the accuracy, confidentiality, and security of your personal information. As part of this commitment, the following Ten Privacy Principles guide our collection and use of website visitors’ personal information. These principles mirror the values set by the CSA’s Model Code for the Protection of Personal Information and PIPEDA, Canada’s Personal Information Protection and Electronic Documents Act.

In addition to satisfying Canada’ privacy laws, our privacy policy is designed to be global in scope also making provisions for Federal and State level statutes of the United States and the GDPR of the European Union.

Principle 1: Accountability.
The Habitat-Friendly Winter Wheat program is accountable for safeguarding personal information and appoints a compliance officer to ensure adherence to privacy principles.

We disclose the purposes for collecting personal information before or at the time of collection.

Principle 3: Knowledge and Consent
We obtain informed consent for the use, disclosure, or collection of personal information, except where permitted by law.

Personal information is used, disclosed, and retained for its intended purpose, with consent or as required by law, and is disposed of when no longer needed.

Principle 6: Accuracy of Information
We strive to maintain accurate, complete, and up-to-date personal information.

Principle 7: Security of Information
Personal information is safeguarded with appropriate security measures to prevent unauthorized access, disclosure, or modification.

Principle 8: Openness
We make public our policies and practices regarding personal information management.

Principle 9: Individual Access
Upon request, individuals are provided with access to their personal information, can challenge its accuracy, completeness, and request amendments or removal and restrict it’s use.

Principle 10: Challenging Compliance
Concerns regarding compliance with privacy principles or privacy-related inquiries can be addressed to the designated compliance officer’s contact information at the end of this policy.

Information Collection and Use

Personal Information

Personal information is any information or data that can be used as is or combined with other data to contact or locate a specific individual. This could include information that relates to your Internet Protocol address, geographical location, interests, and characteristics, or even views. In most circumstances, personal information does not include information that is available on public record.

Purpose of Data Collection

We collect user information for various purposes to improve our services.

  • Monitor and track user behaviour for reporting and management purposes.
  • Identify user behaviour for optimization of our awareness campaigns and site content.
  • Determine user knowledge as a method of measuring the success of the awareness campaigns.
  • Utilize prior user behaviour for the purposes of a remarketing information campaigns with third party advertisers.
  • Email distribution of information distributed by the Habitat-Friendly Winter Wheat program distributes.
  • Requests for information related to the Habitat-Friendly Winter Wheat program.

Data and Personal Information Collected

Personal Data 

We collect personal information including your name, birth date, email address, mailing address, title, company name, and telephone number. While most services don’t require registration, some may need this information for providing products or services, marketing, or communication. Additionally, we gather data and aggregate statistics about your website visits including pages visited and user generated events to enhance site content and for internal reporting and management of our website.

Usage Data

We also through third party services collect information on how our website is accessed and used (“Usage Data”). This Usage Data may include but is not limited to your device’s IP address, browser type, browser version, the pages of habitatwheat.ca that you visit, events triggered, the time and date of your visit, the time spent on those pages, unique device identifiers and other diagnostic data.

Tracking & Cookies Data

We use cookies to track activity on habitatwheat.ca and store information. Cookies are small data files containing an anonymous unique identifier, sent to your browser from a website and stored on your device. We also use beacons, tags, pixels, and scripts to collect and analyze data, improving our service. If you are located outside Canada and choose to provide information to us, please note that we transfer the data, including Personal Data, to Canada and process it there.

Your consent to this Privacy Policy followed by your submission of such information represents your agreement to that transfer.

The Habitat-Friendly Winter Wheat program will take all steps reasonably necessary to ensure that your data is treated securely and in accordance with this Privacy Policy and no transfer of your Personal Data will not take place to an organization or a country unless there are equally adequate controls in place including the security of your data and other personal information.

The Habitat-Friendly Winter Wheat program and the program administrator, Cereals Canada, does not sell or trade to third parties any personally identifiable data.

Security of Data

The Habitat-Friendly Winter Wheat program secures data in password-protected databases and encrypts transmitted data for added security. While we prioritize data security and employ commercially acceptable measures, we cannot guarantee absolute security due to the nature of internet transmission and electronic storage. Notification of data breeches will be made within 72 hours or as required by law.

Service Providers

We enlist third-party Service Providers to support our Service, including service provision, analysis, and performance monitoring. These parties only access your Personal Data for these specific tasks and are bound not to disclose or utilize it for other purposes.

Google Analytics

Habitatwheat.ca uses a web analytics service provided by Google Inc. called Google Analytics that uses cookies and can collect both personal and user data to analyze how users use the site. The Habitat-Friendly Winter Wheat program and Google use this information to analyze how users consume web contents to allow for reporting and optimization of the user experience to improve the website and Google Services. This information transmitted to Google data centres U.S. through encrypted internet connections and may be processed in the U.S. and other data centres.

Opting Out of Google Analytics Data Collection

You may refuse the use of cookies by selecting the appropriate settings on your browser. [link to browser cookie handling]. Please note that if you do this, you may not be able to use all functions of this website. You can also prohibit Google from collecting and analyzing the cookie generated data about your use of habitatwheat.ca by installing the browser plugin.

X (Twitter) Conversion Tracking

habitatwheat.ca uses the Conversion Tracking service of X (Twitter) Inc in the form of a code snippet (tag) to track link clicks and online form submissions to be processed by X in it’s data centres in the U.S., Ireland and abroad. In this way, both habitatwheat.ca and X can analyze how an important event such as a download or registration has taken place. The identity of the user remains anonymous.

LinkedIn Conversion Tracking

LinkedIn conversion tracking is an analytics service provided by LinkedIn Corporation that connects data from the LinkedIn advertising network with actions performed on habitatwheat.ca. The Personal Data collected consists of cookies and Usage Data collected in Canada and processed in the U.S.

Opting Out of LinkedIn Data Collection

You can adjust your privacy settings, delete or update private information on LinkedIn in your account preference by clicking data privacy and for ad data by clicking advertising data. Note that LinkedIn services are intended not for use by anyone under the age of sixteen.

Links To Other Sites

habitatwheat.ca contains links to other websites that are not operated by the Habitat-Friendly Winter Wheat program. If you click on a third-party link, you will be directed to that third party’s site. We strongly advise you to review the Privacy Policy of every site you visit.

The Habitat-Friendly Winter Wheat program has no control over and assume no responsibility for the content, privacy policies or practices of any third-party sites or services.

Children’s Privacy

The habitatwheat.ca service does not address anyone under the age of thirteen (“Children”).

We do not knowingly collect personally identifiable information from anyone under the age of thirteen. If you are a parent or guardian and you are aware that your Child(ren) has provided us with Personal Data, please contact us. If we become aware that we have collected Personal Data from children without verification of parental consent, we take steps to remove that information from our servers.

Changes to this Privacy Policy

You are advised to review this Privacy Policy periodically for any changes as the Habitat-Friendly Winter Wheat program may update our Privacy Policy periodically. We will notify you of any changes by posting the new Privacy Policy on this page and update the “effective date” at the top of this Privacy Policy.
